Greenleaf Kitchen Pivots Toward Takeout in Costa Mesa

07.25.24

Greenleaf Kitchen and Cocktails, renowned for its healthy gourmet meals, is pivoting to focus on takeout and is hosting a farewell party with music and light refreshments on Wednesday, July 31, 6 PM – 8 PM as it prepares to open its Costa Mesa Kitchens location this August. This new venture will serve the local Costa Mesa community and beyond.

Chef-owner Jonathan Rollo, known for pioneering “gourmet-casual” and leading the health-focused fast-casual movement, aims to reimagine the takeout experience with this new location. This move will enable Greenleaf to reduce overall labor costs and redirect those savings into delivering superior value to both new and existing customers. While many restaurateurs in the fast-casual space face rising challenges, Rollo views this as a pivotal opportunity to grow the business and focus on meeting market demands.

Greenleaf will close its operations at 234 E 17th Street effective July 31, 2024. Having called 17th Street home since 2012, Greenleaf is proud to have become a staple of the Costa Mesa community.

Local fans are also encouraged to visit the well-established SOCO location at Harbor Boulevard and Sunflower and can also find Greenleaf at nearby John Wayne Airport, bringing the healthy, organic fan-favorite to on-the-go travelers.

Broadway Thursdays at the Frida: A Summer Movie Series by Segerstrom Center for the Arts

07.25.24

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is excited to announce Broadway Thursdays at the Frida, a summer movie series in partnership with The Frida Cinema in downtown Santa Ana. Every Thursday evening in August, audiences are invited to enjoy screenings of heartwarming and nostalgic films inspired by the Center’s upcoming 2024-2025 Broadway season.

Logan Crow, Executive Director and Founder of The Frida Cinema, shares, “Partnering with Segerstrom Center for the Arts feels natural for The Frida, as both institutions offer communities a place for collective storytelling.

Many acclaimed films started on stage and recently we’ve seen an exciting trend of live shows based on films. Some non-musical films have even become stage musicals, which were then adapted into film musicals! When Segerstrom told us about their upcoming slate of five shows connected to cinema, we jumped at the opportunity to partner. This newly developed Broadway movie series not only showcases great films and exciting Broadway shows at Segerstrom, but also highlights the deep connection between live theater and cinema and how each enriches our cultural landscape uniquely.”

Experience a month of musical magic, storytelling, and community as the spirit of Broadway is celebrated right here in Orange County.

Whether you’re a fan of classic musicals or thrilling adventures, Broadway Thursdays at the Frida has something for everyone. Tickets for Broadway Thursday at the Frida screenings are $12 and are available for purchase online at thefridacinema.org/

305 E 4th St #100, Santa Ana.
